I’m dubbing this week (and some of next week) ‘rhubarb week’ here on AOC, which you’d know if you caught yesterday’s post (which if you didn’t, you should, ’cause it’s the most amazing rhubarb recipe – probably ever – well, that’s not a cake or pastry at least). In addition to rhubarb recipes, I’m going to publish an “ultimate rhubarb reference” post with growing tips, preserving techniques and lots of ways to use rhubarb in cooking and baking, similar to this post all about blueberries except with some growing information added.
So, for today’s Tuesday Garden Party I’m asking you to share YOUR best rhubarb tips or recipes! Do you grow it? How long do you harvest? What have you learned? If you cook with it, what are your favorite recipes? I want to highlight other’s recipes in my all things rhubarb post, too – I already am planning on linking to Rindy Mae’s delicious Rhubarb Cake recipe, so if you have a unique way of using Rhubarb, leave the recipe in the comments to share with us and if it’s on a website, add it to the linky below!
Of course, it’s not ALL rhubarb around here. I’m excited to share with you the current state of our Spotted Towhee nest:
Aren’t they adorable? I’m actually not that close, I just cropped the photo to zoom in a bit, but I was close enough that they stopped looking up for food and hunkered down together as I pulled the shrub back to get a photo. Not sure how I feel about the momma towhee – this is only the 3rd time I’ve been out there since I found them, but each time she just runs away and abandons them! Seriously, she doesn’t even squawk at me or anything. The babies just seem so vulnerable there on the ground…I don’t think I would just leave them to their fate! But then again, I’m not a bird – what do I know?
So – what’s happening in your gardens?
