Happy Tuesday Garden Party! Besides the normal mid-July garden harvests we’re enjoying (zucchini, cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli side shoots, cabbage, kale, chard, early tomatoes, and blackberries) two fun things happened this last week: I harvested all the onions and got them into the shed to dry. That in itself is not all that amazing – the thing that made it great is that I did it the day before we got some torrential rain. And onions that are ready to be picked (many were a bit over-ready…) do NOT like lots of moisture. Their outer layers just become mush.
So, who-hoo, tiny little garden harvest disaster averted!
The second thing was something everyone in our family looks forward to each year: the first green bean harvest!! This is actually a photo of the second harvest, since the first batch was taken with us on a family trip to my Dad’s house in LaPine and enjoyed by everyone. One of the first things I did when we returned was to pick some more to grill for our dinner (we do it like this recipe, except with all beans). Total yum-o.
Okay, are you wondering about the ‘Announcement’ I referenced in the title? I’m super excited about it and think you all will be too:
Starting next Tuesday, August 5, four other lovely bloggers will join me in hosting the Tuesday Garden Party!!
I will be joined by Michelle from Simplify Live Love, Brooke from Creative Country Mom, Shelly from Frugal Family Home, and Tracie from Fishtail Cottage – all long-time participants in the TGP who I know will bring so much knowledge, inspiration, and fun to the TGP. The best part, I think, from all our perspectives, is that any of you who link to the party on any one of our blogs will be seen on all five blogs! We’re hoping this means more exposure, more gardeners to exchange information with, and more interaction. The five of us will rotate hosting duties, choosing links to feature and probably talking about our gardens (a-hem), and we’ll post the same TGP with link-up on each of our blogs.
See why I’m excited? So this week we’ll have our last link-up seen only on An Oregon Cottage (which of course I always look forward to) and next week it’ll be a new TGP! What do you think?
