Hypertufa planters – lightweight versions of cement containers – make unusual and beautiful gifts when filled with mosses, ground covers, and succulents, to use inside or out.

I’ve often thought about making cement gifts but always have second thoughts when I think about lugging heavy cement pots around to parties. Well, hypertufa planters are the perfect alternative! They look similar to cement planters, but are made with a special mixture of materials that create a much lighter product.
Hypertufa is also easier to work with and mold, making it perfect for unusual shaped planters. You can use many things for molds that are easy to find, like baking pans and bowls.
Planted with low-growing starts of ground covers, succulents, or even just moss the planters will not only be easy to carry, they will probably be the hit of the party.
