Christmas decorating and crafts through the years at An Oregon Cottage with an emphasis on easy with a vintage, use-what-you-have, cottage-farmhouse style.
Since 2010 I’ve been sharing our Christmas decorating ideas with you – holiday house tours, simple crafts, fun ornaments, and easy ways to make the holidays meaningful and memorable for your families.
I love Christmas, but Christmas as it’s meant to be: a reflection of the love that God has for us in sending His son. We do what we can around here to de-emphasize the commercialism and share joy and love through hospitality and doing simple things together, like seeing a holiday movie, baking cookies, or crafting a new ornament.
It’s these values that you’ll find reflected in all the Christmas-themed articles here on AOC – everything do-able, simple and fun. And of course I don’t do ALL of it every year – and neither should you! Pick a few cookies to bake, a new ornament to make each year, a gift to make, and a few family traditions your loved ones will enjoy. And savor the season!
Here are a few past articles to help you simplify and inspire you to create family traditions of your own:
- Ultimate List of Family Traditions – compiled from our family’s favorite traditions and those of AOC readers, this covers the whole year, and has some wonderful ideas for the holidays.
- My Easy Gift-Wrapping System and How to Wrap a Box With A Lid – these revolutionized the gift-part of the holidays for me and I can get all our gifts under the tree in about 30 minutes!
- And of course, check out all our handmade gift ideas, which I love giving and receiving if you’re looking for ideas.
