Hey friends! Welcome to another weekly ‘Three Things” posts where I share some of the things that make me happy, a peek into my week, and a few of the things you loved from the previous week. Though with all that you can see you’ll find more than only three things in these posts. I’m simply using 3 as a way to organize these weekly updates: you’ll get 3 things I’m loving right now, 3 things that happened in our lives the previous week, and 3 of our most-viewed posts from the week. Full disclosure: I’ll probably find a few more things to throw in – but we call those ‘bonuses!’ Let’s get started! (Note: the links I provide are often affiliate links, though not always.)
Three Things I’m Loving
The show Elementary is my favorite thing on TV right now. I love it – and I wasn’t sure at the beginning what I’d think about a female Watson (what?), but we gave it a go after reading an interview with Lucy Liu who said there’d never be anything romantic between Sherlock and Watson, because “that would be weird.” Um, yes. It’s smart, funny, not too gross, and you never really know what Sherlock will do. Plus, though I really like the PBS Sherlock series, Jonny Lee Miller’s Sherlock is just a bit kinder and more human.
I’ve been wearing Bigelow’s Rose Perfume Oil for years – at least 10, if not more. I like to think of it as my ‘signature scent’ – well, I would if I was into that kind of thing, ha! Frankly, I got tired of the heavy perfume mixtures available at the lower price range (cheap -cough- cheap) but still wanted a pretty, feminine scent every now and then. This is just what it says – it smells lightly of roses and it’s in an oil carrier that I simply dab on with my fingers. There’s no overspray and I can put just the amount I want where I want it. Bigelow has other single-scent perfume oils, too – I think Musk is pretty popular, but I’ve never been a musk person. Flowers, though? Always.
This is gonna seem silly to talk about, but this is the type of the thing I always want to share with you when I’m using something I love. This time it just happens to be tissues. Over years of trying whatever tissue was available or on sale I’ve become a tissue snob and will only buy Kleenex Ultra Soft tissues. They are really the softest tissue I’ve ever used – but not so soft that it sheds when you use it (those tissue-users out there will know what I’m talking about). The Lotion version is good, too, but they’re harder to find. Luckily, I get them through Amazon’s Subscribe & Save now, so I know I’m pretty much always gonna get a good deal and, more importantly, not run out.
Three Things That Happened
Brian and I used some cash we’d been saving up since our anniversary to spend two nights at the Oregon Coast. It was perfect. We actually had sun and watched the sunset on the first day (in January!) and was able to do some wonderful couple-planning and praying for the new year. We both came back refreshed and thankful we live just a couple hours away from an amazing ocean view (sadly, though, this is the only picture we came back with – snapped for Instagram when we arrived…bad blogger and family historian, apparently, though I was enjoying the moments!).
Every Thursday Brian and I take our offices to a coffee house, which mostly ends up being Starbucks because we have gift cards. Well, and they have good coffee! When you work at home, there’s just something good about getting out of the routine on a regular basis. We just started this a few months ago and we LOVE it.
I received these cards from Fawnsberg in the mail a couple days ago. They were what I chose to buy with the $15 bonus that was included in the Ultimate DIY Bundle from last week. I had to pay shipping, so I think I paid around $4 for this set of cards. And I think they are wonderful! The packaging is terrific and that sentiment? Simple and sweet. Thinking I may just have to frame one of them as a reminder to me of something I’m always trying to work on…

I didn’t know that about turmeric and I am having a flare up right now with roscea so I am gonna get my turmeric out of the pantry and give it a try. I like putting it in capsules and taking by mouth, the favor gets old fast if u start putting it in everything. Very strong to me! Thanks for the tips:)

I have to agree with you about “Elementary.” It’s become a favorite at our house as well. I’ve always been a Johnny Lee Miller fan – especially the BBC production of “Emma” in which he plays Mr. Knightly. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you do! He’s wonderful.
Jami says
Oooo, I have, Kim, and I LOVE him in that, too. 🙂
