Happy weekend! I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday - I'm raring to go this week after taking last week off and have loads of really great links to share with you that I've been gathering (whew, the content is great out there!).
We had lots of good food and got time with lots of family, so it was all good on our end. I made a berry pie with the Triple Crown Thornless Blackberries that was the BEST pie ever. Seriously - and I can't believe I'm saying that since I've been a HUGE Marionberry fan like, forever. But I made the pie with my same crust with the same crumble topping I use on our berry crisps and the only thing different was the berries. And the flavor - whoa, everyone commented on it. SO - one more reason to grow those blackberries if you can!
On to this week’s things I’m loving – and a few links I think you’ll love! (as always, some of the links I provide are affiliate links)
Tagging along with Brian to Seattle. Brian needed to go to Seattle for a few days for a business event and I wouldn't want a nice, company-paid hotel room in downtown to go to waste, would I? Good call since I think it was the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in (The Grand Hyatt, by the way - they were so accommodating and even got us into a room when our airplane and shuttle got us there hours early, which helped to make up for the fact that there was no breakfast included even though it was listed in the amenities on their website - boo.). And of course in Seattle, there better be Starbucks in the room coffee makers, right? (It's the birthplace of the coffee giant…).
I got a TON of work done, was Brian's "+1" when needed and we got to wander around a bit after the event. So, fun and relaxing, too. Oh, and I did use that tub and robe!
Homemade bread for the holidays. I hadn't made bread since moving and there's something so basic and - I don't know, life-affirming? like, I'm creating my own food with my own hands kind of life-affirming? - about it that I realized how much I missed it.
Oh, and how good - and easy - these recipes are! I made the soft whole wheat dinner rolls which haven't failed me yet (though there was that year I forgot the salt…yikes, do.not.do.that.) and two loaves of easy artisan bread (a whole batch- I didn't refrigerate any). Why the artisan bread? Because it makes the best stuffing ever. Once you use fresh bread in stuffing, you'll never, ever go back to those hard little cubes in a package, I promise. And if it's this lick-the-plate stuffing, all the better!
I jumped on the Instant Pot bandwagon. I did it - I bought an Instant Pot during the Cyber Monday sales. I just keep seeing people go on and on about how it's the best thing they've ever bought for their kitchens and I just couldn't stand it any longer, ha!
Now I have to figure out how to use it - and what to make with it! Luckily, I think that sounds fun. And I (and by "I," I mean Brian!) plan on shooting some videos to share my first experience cooking with it, too - that oughta be fun, too!
