I’m SO close, guys, to finishing those dumb chairs – that was my big accomplishment last week (in addition to more garden beds cleaned up, of course)! I hope to have some photos to share with you this next week, fingers crossed. I have GOT to check this off my list so I can get to painting the laundry room, which is next on the list of things that need to be done before putting the house up for sale.
Other than that, things have been pretty quite around here – how are things with you? I hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day, celebrating all the significant women in your lives, or just being spoiled by others!
On to this week’s things I’m loving – and the links I think you’ll love! (Some of the links I provide are affiliate links.)
The crabapple blossoms. They pretty much stopped me in my tracks and I had to snap a picture. This was taken just withy my iPhone 5, believe it or not – when something’s that gorgeous, who needs a fancy camera?
Do you guys know about the valuation guides from thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army? My sister turned me on to these when a financial planner told her about them and she knew we were planning a huge moving sale. Because guess what? You can save MORE off your taxes than you could ever make in a garage sale using these guides – without the hassle and time commitment of running a sale.
Just look at the “Tops” category above – $1 to $15 when you’re lucky to get .50-$1 at a sale. We do have to catalog everything, but that won’t take as much time as prepping and holding a 1-2 day sale would – and then we have to take the leftovers to a thrift store anyway.
Can I just tell you how relived I’ve been about this? I just didn’t know how we were going to get a sale done AND get our house ready at the same time. I’ll take tax savings any day – especially since we’re still selling the ‘good stuff’ on Craigslist for quick cash!
My latest Amazon Subscribe and Save shipment full of good-for-you stuff and fun things for our upcoming road trip. I haven’t shared a subscribe and save package with you in awhile (I detailed how to save with S&S here), and I’m still loving getting things delivered right to my door for the same price or less that I would get at a store.
Brief reminder: when you order products eligible for subscribe and save, you automatically save 5%, but when you have 5 or more items delivered in one month, you save 15% in addition to any coupons available. So for example, the Planters nuts was originally $8.19. My %15 subscribe & save took off $1.22 and there was a coupon for $2.05, making the total $4.91 (the coupons change each month and are for everything from tissues to health items to food items).
FYI: The other deals (after the S&S savings) in my package were $6.89 for shelled pistachios, $11.90 for organic oatstraw (that I use in my nettle tea), $4.24 for natural beef jerky, $2.41 for the popcorn (which now is crazy-priced at over $7, sheesh – that’s the thing with Amazon, sometimes they’re really good and sometimes they’re not), $11.71 for 19 oz. of organic hempseed (a great deal!), and $7.14 for 32 0z. of pesticide-free chia seeds (I add a tablespoon of both chia and hemp seeds to my granola every morning – the hemp is surprisingly tasty!).
