Package up a jar of healthier oat and whole wheat snickerdoodle cookie mix to give away to family and friends - it's easy, inexpensive, and makes a fun gift.
In a clean, dry quart-size mason jar add the dry ingredients in the order listed (flour, baking powder and salt, oats, sugar) using a large funnel and tapping the jar on the counter between each layer to settle.
Add the cinnamon-sugar topping and seal: Add the 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon in a small baggie and mix together. Remove air and seal. Fold baggie up to fit in the space left at the top of the jar and seal the jar with a lid.
When Ready to Bake:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease or line two cookie sheets.
In the large bowl of a mixer, cream the butter until light and add the eggs and vanilla, mixing until combined (there may still be lumps, depending on how soft your butter was).
Add the contents of the snickerdoodle mix jar (set aside the baggie of topping) and beat at low speed until everything is combined into a dough.
Pour the cinnamon-sugar mix in the baggie into a small bowl. Shape the cookie dough into 1-inch balls, roll in the sugar mix and place 2 inches apart on the cookie sheets.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely before storing in an airtight container (or freezing for longer storage).
