Ingredients
Main Spices

mustard seeds,
yellow or black

black peppercorns

teaspoons
red pepper flakes

bay leaves,
crumbled

cinnamon stick,
crushed
Optional Spices

tablespoon
coriander seeds
1
tablespoon
dill seed
1
teaspoon
allspice berries

whole cloves
Instructions
Mix the first five main spices in a small bowl.
Add any or all of the optional spices and mix thoroughly.
Store spice blend in a small jar with an airtight lid in a pantry. Will keep for a number of years.
Notes
-It's best to avoid powdered spiced in pickling spice - it makes the liquid cloudy and can affect the color if it's something like turmeric.
