Easy and sweet DIY garden gift ideas both for, and from, the garden. Perfect for the gardeners and wanna-be gardeners in your life - and anyone who appreciates unique handmade items!
Creating gifts from my garden or garden-themed gifts are one of my favorite kind of handmade gift idea. If you were around for the 31 days of Handmade Gifts or participated in the Handmade Gift Challenge in the past, you know that making things to give to others is one of my favorite DIYs ever.
I love homemade gifts because they hit all the points of a good project:
- they are thoughtful - a lot more than running to the store.
- they are unique and can be tailored specifically for the recipient
- they are useful (especially food related gifts - who doesn't want to eat?)
- they are inexpensive (sometimes even using what you have)
Combining all this with gardens? Well that's just icing on the cake.
There are two types of gifts you can make with a garden theme:
- Gifts you make from garden produce (herbs, vegetables, flowers).
- Gifts you make for people who love to garden.
Since there are a lot of people on our gift lists who do not garden, option one is obviously the way to go. Into this category are all the wonderful food items you can make from seasonal produce. Any one of the canned food recipes you find in AOC's preserving page would make a fun gift (and many have been gifted by me over the years!). Bath products, candles, and home decor items are other ideas of gifts from the garden.
Then there are the gifts for garden lovers. These can range from a basket of garden tools, to seeds. to stepping stones. Basically anything you think they'd like to use or that would bring beauty to their yard or home that has a garden-theme works. As a gardener myself, I like to think of what I would love to have or things I've used that work well.
To help get those creative juices flowing, I've collected 15 fun and useful DIY garden gift ideas for you that fall into one of these categories. The first three are projects you'll find here at AOC and the rest are from around the web - including ideas from the Tuesdays In The Garden group since this week's theme is gift ideas from the garden.
So with more than 15 ideas to spark your creativity, I know you'll find that perfect project for whatever your gifting need - wedding, birthday or hostess. Oh, and it's never too early to be thinking Christmas! In fact, for edible items made with seasonal produce you have to think early.
Think how great that would be to be all done with most of your Christmas gifts by September! (I know, right?!)

What great ideas Jami! I especially love that DIY thrifted bird feeder. Very Cute and charming!

Love all the idea. The portable potting table would keep me from making a mess on our picnic table each year when I'm starting seeds.
I made a couple of harvest aprons for my daughter and myself to make it easier when we would go berry picking. They easily held 2-3 freezer containers and I'd pick right into them leaving both hands free. I now use them when I need to harvest out of our garden and they do hold quite a bit.
Thanks for sharing all these great ideas!

I love that idea for the aprons, Shelly - especially the fact that you and your daughter wear them. Too cute. 🙂
