Podcast Ep.48: Last Minute Christmas Ideas
A December podcast about last minute Christmas ideas? I know, call us unique. But it is reality for a lot of us – there always seems to be that person you forgot to get something for or that event you didn’t plan food for. And we’ve got your back – we’re talking about what to make for last minute gifts, highlighting several easy projects from our “17 Homemade Gifts In 6 Minutes” video that’s recently taken off on YouTube. We’re also discussing a few quick and easy holiday recipes to take to events or give to people, and a few Christmassy things to do with family that don’t take a lot of planning (or money). Of course we’ve got the latest updates on the farmhouse–with the wedding happening days away! And finally, we share some cool discoveries we’ve made.

Last Minute Christmas Ideas – Gifts
Here’s the DIY gift video we made a few years ago that’s taking off this season:
See this and all our videos (including some really old funny ones by Brian) on AOC’s You Tube page.
Of the 17, these are the gifts that would work for last minute:
- Photo Cards (these are the photo note cards my sister uses – you glue them on – or you can use insert cards where the photo can be removed)
- Chalkboard Crafts (Click here for napkin rings and here for wood tags)
- Fleece throw/scarf (A yard of fleece like this is all it takes – cut the edges into a fringe and it’s done)
- Food/Cake stands (this is the glue I’d recommend to use to attach the candlesticks to the plates)
We also talked about a few things to do that don’t cost a lot or take a lot of planning. Here’s that google search Brian mentioned or Christmas carol sing alongs.

Farmhouse Updates

We’re ready for a wedding! Do not pay attention to the flaking porch posts – it’s an evening wedding, thank goodness! Feast your eyes instead on all the siding repaired and window molding all with a fresh coat of primer. All the heart eyes here!!
Also, this piece of goodness:

The master bedroom and closet walls going up!! It’s so funny how it doesn’t look like much space, but it will give us a 14′ x 15′ foot master (with a walk-in closet), which is a really good size (we think huge master bedrooms are kind of a waste – we only sleep there!).
It’s so great to have things really happening now – it’s like a snowball effect from getting the foundation done.
This is Really Cool!

Brian’s:Ā Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein.
Here is the audio version we listened to that’s narrated by Dan Stevens.

Jami’s:Ā Peppermint Crunch Junior Mints – get them while you can!

Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to you both. Your podcasts brightened my life in the past years and I thank you for that.
p.s. Jami, please make a new year resolution to use that instant pot! In the past week, I made 35 minute pork carnitas (from Nom, Nom Paleo cookbook) to feed my grandkids and 8 minute Thai Massaman Curry with chicken (from pressureluckcooking.com) to dazzle my grown sons! I’ll grant you that those are actual cooking times and there was some prep time, but the results are truly great.
