Handmade Gifts on An Oregon Cottage

With the end of the Tuesday Garden Party for the season, I thought it would be fun to look towards the holidays and run a series about handmade gifts.

I LOVE both getting and giving handmade gifts at any time of the year, but I always like to highlight them at the holidays because I think it’s a much more meaningful gift. It takes some thought, doesn’t require being a part of the holiday consumerism, and usually results in a unique and useful gift. The bonus is that most of the time it’s a lot less expensive – unless you’re knitting cashmere throws or something.

Handmade Gift Ideas :: An Oregon Cottage

Over the years I’ve shared a number of handmade gifts and crafts (find even more on the Project Gallery), most of which I’ve given to my family and friends. Today I’m going to provide a sort of ‘ultimate AOC handmade gift list’ for you that hopefully will be of benefit to you as you are looking for tried and true handmade gifts to make.

Then every Tuesday from now through the holidays I will share a new handmade gift idea. I’ve got some fun things planned including a couple of easy catalog knockoffs, last-minute food gifts, and a sweet guest post where you will learn how to paint quilt. I hope you are as excited as I am about this series!

I just looked over some of your recipes. How nice to find recipes with whole wheat flour, sucanat, and honey. Your biscuits, apple scones, whole wheat bread, dinner rolls, and cranberry oatmeal cookies look so good.

I grind my own wheat and some recipes I just change the flour, sugar, and oil to a healthier version. I use coconut oil a good bit.

Jami, I’m excited about the series! I, too, love making and getting handmade gifts. In fact, my friends sort of expect them from me. I usually make jewelry for them, and my gifts always come with a lifetime warranty, lol! Looking forward to the series! :-)
